Step up, step up! The Merchant has opened his stall, and the fair is about to begin. Mercante in Fiera is the traditional Italian holiday card game, played at Christmas around the family table. HOW A FAIR WORKS • Everyone puts their Fair tickets into the prize pool and gets two red cards. • The Merchant puts all the other red cards into closed mystery boxes. Make your offer for a box… without knowing how many cards it holds! One card or five? Listen to his patter: now and then he drops a hint. • Five blue cards are set aside as the prize cards. The others are turned one by one, and each one knocks the twin red card out of the game. • Every ten cards the market opens: swap cards with the other players, ask for the card you like, make a counter-offer or keep your hand. • Hold the twin of a prize card at the end, and the trophy and its tickets are yours!
